Title:  UX/UI Designer (Junior – Mid Level)
Type: 3-month contract-to-hire, 20 hrs/week guaranteed
Contract Pay: $45 – $60/hr
Full-Time Pay on Conversion: $75,000 – $90,000/yr (DOE) + yearly bonus

Job Summary

Bonsai Media Group is hiring a UX/UI Designer with strong user-research chops, polished system-based craft, and  required experience using AI tools such as Perplexity, Midjourney, and ChatGPT to accelerate workflows. You’ll design accessible, responsive, data-informed experiences across e-commerce, nonprofit, and B2B projects while collaborating closely with developers, PMs, and stakeholders.  Agency experience is a BIG plus!

 

Key Responsibilities

User Research & Testing

• Stakeholder interviews, persona creation, journey mapping, card sorting, tree-testing, UX audits, analytics reviews 
• Document insights to inform IA, wireframes, and user stories

Design Execution

• Create high-fidelity, component-based UIs and contribute to scalable design systems
• Build responsive, WCAG-compliant layouts and interactive prototypes, leveraging AI accelerators when useful

Collaboration & Delivery

• Present solutions to clients and internal teams; run design reviews; maintain clear specs
• Use AI-assisted tools to enhance prototyping, documentation, and handoff

Requirements

• 2+ years UX/UI experience delivering responsive, accessible, data-driven interfaces
• Portfolio showcasing end-to-end case studies
• Proficiency in discovery research methods, design-system maintenance, and high-fidelity tools (Figma or similar)
• Working knowledge of  WCAG 2.2 AA standards
• AI Tool Familiarity (ChatGPT, Midjourney, Perplexity, etc.) — required
• Excellent communication and self-management in a distributed team
