Heavy Equipment Operator

Location/Onsite: Multiple job sites across North Carolina – onsite position

A Day in the Life of the Heavy Equipment Operator

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you'll play a vital role in executing critical sitework tasks using a variety of machinery. You'll be entrusted with operating, maintaining, and ensuring the safety of heavy equipment, all while contributing to smooth project execution. Your role directly supports the timely and quality completion of construction projects for our client.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operate heavy construction equipment in accordance with safety regulations and company standards
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure proper functionality of machinery
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed
  • Keep equipment clean and in optimal working condition
  • Report larger repair needs to the appropriate personnel
  • Follow all local, state, and federal safety guidelines
  • Actively contribute to a safe and efficient worksite environment

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment
  • Experience working with a pipe crew is a plus
  • Solid knowledge of equipment safety and proper operation standards
  • Ability to inspect, clean, and conduct minor repairs on machinery
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail
  • Physically able to lift 50–90 pounds frequently and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Comfortable walking on uneven terrain and climbing on/off equipment safely
  • Willingness to perform manual labor as needed
  • Experience with grading and reading grade stakes and site plans
  • Ability to work flexible hours, starting as early as 6:30 am
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
