Job Description

Position Overview
ELQ Industries, Inc. specializes in site development and all aspects of road, bridge, utility, and heavy highway construction. We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Operator to maintain, repair, and oversee our fleet of construction equipment. This role combines hands-on mechanical work with supervisory and management responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be experienced in servicing heavy equipment, capable of operating machinery when needed, and comfortable coordinating a small team of mechanics while managing inventory and service schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of heavy construction equipment (excavators, loaders, dozers, trucks, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to minimize downtime.
  • Operate heavy equipment as required to support field operations.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of two mechanics, providing guidance and support.
  • Manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; coordinate orders and vendor relationships.
  • Schedule and track service, inspections, and repairs across the fleet.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure equipment availability and reliability.
  • Ensure safety standards and compliance are met at all times.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic; operating experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and technical schematics.
  • Supervisory or team lead experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus.
  • Willingness to join a union, with company sponsorship available.
