Essential Functions:

  • Chief Engineer shall have charge of the above operation and shall perform such supervisory or other duties, including but not limited to implementation of preventative maintenance programs, inventory control, and the inspection, testing and maintenance of the fire alarm and other life safety systems, as may be consistent with their functions as Chief Engineer and which are assigned to them by the building management.
  • The Chief Engineer, in addition to performing bargaining unit work, shall be responsible to the Employer for the safe, economical operation of the plant and for all persons employed under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
  • The Chief shall also be responsible for the implementation of the Employer's orientation, safety and training programs of engineers under their direction, as time and resources permit.
  • Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) card for safe handling of new Environmentally friendly replacement refrigerants oils and refrigerant blends.
  • Certification of Occupational Proficiency in Air conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in Refrigerant, Recovery & Recycling.
  • Experience with maintenance and repairs of screw type chillers up to 200 tons.
  • Experience with maintenance and repair of cascade systems (ultra-low freezers).
  • Experience with maintenance and repairs of DDC systems (Direct Digital controls).
  • Certification for standard operating practices for the in-place management of asbestos containing building materials.
  • OSHA approved electrical lock-out-tag-out certification.
  • Certificate for Department of Transportation, D.O.T. HM-181 & 126F Hazmat Transportation Regulations.
  • OSHA approved forklift and aerial boom lift operator certifications.
  • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certification for maintaining, inspecting, and
    testing all fire systems onsite.

Other Requirements:

  • The engineers will be able to perform any or all of the following skilled and technical duties but not necessarily limited to performing work under a work order or computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), operating or assisting in operating all heating and ventilation and air conditioning equipment, engines, turbines, motors, combustion engines, pumps, air compressors, ice and refrigerating machines, air conditioning units, filters, dryers, fans, siphons, also automatic and power-oiling pumps and engines, as well as other such normal or evolved building systems as installed within the building(s).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must posses a valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a background investigation.
